Grade-Level: All grades Activity Title: Water Bottles Subject: Reducing water foundation waste by using re-usable water bottles by all in-person students. Teacher(s): Thompson, West, Hunter, Thomas When: Spring 2021 Number of Students: 200 Description: Our students waste a lot of water using the water foundations in the traditional way. We decided to purchase and personalize water bottles for the students to reduce water waste. This also will double to help with reducing plastic bottle use in the school as well. Students were all provided one upon returning to in-person learning.

Arlington Clean-Ups
Grade-Level: All grades Activity Title: Arlington Clean-Ups Subject: Reducing litter from school yards before it reaches the water ways. Teacher(s): Thompson, Hamele, Yorkshire, Woolson, Castro, Wagner When: School Year 2016-2017, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. Monthly (November 8, 2018- most recent) Number of Students: 120 Description: Members of the school community remove waste from the schoolyard before it becomes part of the Chesapeake Bay. Students remove items such as recyclables, leaf litter and trash. Students pull weeds from specific areas of the school and garden beds. This has been done monthly since we first began the Green Team and we have currently removed over 200 lbs of unwanted debris from the school grounds over the last three years. The teachers brought their students outside and lead them on a collection hunt. The teachers led this activity for their students and were provided bags, gloves, water and snacks.
Blue Water Baltimore- Drain Painting
Grade-Level: All Staff Activity Title: Drain Painting Subject: Chesapeake Bay Run-off Teachers: Bankins, Scott. Thompson When: October 24, 2018 Number of Students: 45 Students Description: This activity was when students spray painted messages on the drains and curbs to tell people those drains lead to our harbor. We painted sea animals using stencils. This activity was to prevent people from throwing trash and waste into the drains. The students main role in this activity was to paint the drains for public awareness. They also cleaned the sidewalk and worked with members of Blue Water Baltimore to understand water pollution and runoff.
